Read This As a Guide In Times of Uncertainty
"To change the world around you, you must first change the world within you." – Internal
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re feeling lost, frustrated, or uncertain. Maybe you’re angry with the way things are going in the world. Maybe life hasn’t turned out the way you thought it would. You’re not alone in this feeling. The world today is unpredictable, overwhelming, and, in many ways, can seem terrifying.
It’s valid to feel disappointed by the state of things. Everyone deserves a home, safety, and the ability to have their basic needs met—regardless of the "value" they add to society. Basic survival on a planet with abundant resources should never be commodified. Yet wealth and opportunities are hoarded, and many are left behind.
The frustration is understandable. But one important thing to realize is that the world today is not necessarily "worse" than it has been throughout history—it’s just more visible. These issues have existed for thousands of years, but in previous generations, they weren’t as widely known. The current times have pulled back the curtain, making injustice impossible to ignore. In the past, distractions—like entertainment, celebrity culture, and politics—kept people from paying attention. But now, the truth is undeniable and can no longer be distracted.
Older generations may reminisce about the "good old days," but just because they were unaware of what was happening behind the scenes doesn’t mean those problems didn’t exist. Life wasn’t necessarily better—it was just better disguised.
And so, the question remains: What do you do when it feels like the world is falling apart? How do you move forward without drowning in hopelessness? Read this guide to find out!
You Were Not Put Here To Fix This World
It’s easy to feel powerless with all that's going on in the world. When the world feels chaotic, the weight of trying to change it can feel unbearable. But hear this: it is NOT your responsibility to fix it.
A lot of people feel helpless in uncertain times, believing it’s their duty to take on the suffering of the world and somehow solve everything. But that is not your role. No higher power—whatever you believe in—created you to be the singular savior of humanity. You are not meant to single-handedly shift the course of history.
For centuries, people have looked to one leader to wake them up, to guide them, and to be their savior. But what happens when that leader is gone? Many great leaders have come and gone, yet humanity continues to face the same struggles. Why is that? If you rely on someone else to show you the way, you become dependent on them. And when their time is up—then what? Who will you turn to next? No one is coming to save you. Healing, change, and growth are your responsibility. You have to hold yourself accountable for your own actions, your own healing, and your own transformation.
Trying to control what is outside of you will only drain you. Other people’s actions? Out of your hands. The systems in place? Bigger than you. The only real control you have is internal: your thoughts, your beliefs, your energy, your actions.
That is where your power lies.
Acknowledge & Create!
You are human, and feeling deeply—especially in times like these—is natural. Acknowledge your emotions. Allow yourself to sit with them instead of pushing them away. There is nothing wrong with feeling frustrated, anxious, angry, or lost, especially in times like these! But instead of letting those emotions consume you, express them in a way that fuels you rather than drains you.
Create.Create.Create. Channel what you’re feeling into something meaningful. Whether it’s music, dance, painting, writing, or any form of expression, allow yourself to release and transform your emotions into something tangible. If there’s a skill you’ve always wanted to learn, now is the time. Creation is one of the most healing things you can do—it gives your emotions somewhere to go.
Focus On Your Healing
Living authentically and purposefully has more of an impact than organizing protests or trying to force others to change. Of course, activism has its place. But before you look outward, you must look first look within.
Your healing, your growth, your ability to move through life with love and kindness—that is the work.
Generational trauma, personal tragedies, and internal wounds do not have to define you. Healing yourself, breaking the cycles of pain, and refusing to perpetuate the narrative of "hurt people hurt people". Instead, rewrite the narrative to “hurt people heal people”.
By healing, you unintentionally permit others to do the same. You become a light, and that light is contagious.
Everything in this world is driven by either love or fear—there is no in-between. And for too long, the world has been ruled by fear. It is time to shift that. Love is way more powerful than fear just less known, felt, and shown. But that doesn’t mean it’s any less real.
What To Do In Times Of Uncertainty!
The purpose of this guide is not to make you feel powerless but to remind you of the strength you already have. You don’t have to save the world. You don’t have to carry the weight of everything wrong in society. Instead, focus on what you can control:
1. Prioritize Self-Care
The world feels heavier when you are drained. Taking care of yourself is not selfish—it is essential. Meditation, journaling, spending time in nature, moving your body, and doing things that bring you joy are not "small" acts. They are ways to put energy back to you.
2. Shift Your Focus to Your Immediate World
Turn off the news!!! It's good to be informed and not ignorant of what's going on around you, but you doomscrolling is not going to save lives. Instead, put that energy into your own community. Talk to and get to know your neighbor. Help a stranger. Volunteer locally. The best way to counteract hopelessness is to take action where you actually can.
3. Choose Love Over Fear
It is easy to fall into cynicism and assume the worst of people. But not everyone is evil, and not everything is falling apart. There are millions of people doing good in this world every single day—you just won’t see it on the news. Love, joy, and kindness are still everywhere. You just have to shift your focus to see it. Paradoxically, do the opposite of what the news is telling you. The economy is failing? Think even more abundantly. Someone cuts you off? Smile at them.
4. Live Authentically
You were not put here to follow a script written by society. Find your truth. What brings you peace? What feels right in your soul? Listen to your internal guidance, not external noise. We’ve been told for too long what to do and a lot of us have followed that script, where has that gotten us? It’s usually those who follow and forge their own path that are the ones who seem the happiest.
You Don’t Fix What You Didn’t Break
The weight of the world is not yours to carry. The chaos you see? You didn’t create it. So don’t make it your mission to fix it.
Instead, be the change within yourself. Heal your wounds, find your joy, and spread your love. Help in ways that feel right to you.
Being happy and having fun is an act of rebellion in a world that profits off misery. Live fully, love deeply, and reject the narrative that everything is doomed. The world isn’t just suffering; it’s healing.
And by choosing to heal yourself, you contribute to that shift.
Because when you change the world within you, the world around you begins to change, too.
