The Internal Three Step to Success philosophy applies to creating a money story. But first, let's learn what a money story is.
Money Story 101:
A money story is the unique narrative you have about money, shaped by your experiences, beliefs, and emotions. It includes how you think about earning, spending, saving, and investing money. This story is influenced by your upbringing, cultural background, and personal experiences, and it can significantly impact your financial decisions and behavior. By understanding your money story you can help identify and change any negative patterns, allowing you to make healthier financial choices and achieve your goals and what you want to get out of life.
Think of how you were raised. Did your parents have a lot of money or a little? And what did they do with the money they made? Did they invest their money? or Did they spend it carelessly and never have an emergency fund? All these factors have a significant impact on how you will treat money without even realizing it.
Think about the media you watched growing up. Was the rich guy always corrupt and evil? Now think of rich people, do you associate them with being corrupt? Why? Think of the beliefs you have surrounding money and try to sit on where they formed and if you treat money based on these personal beliefs.
Diving Deep Into Money and Upbringing
Our relationship with money is deeply influenced by our upbringing. The environment we grew up in, along with the financial behaviors and attitudes of our caregivers, plays a significant role in shaping how we handle money as adults. Whether you realize it or not, the way you think about and manage money today is likely a reflection of what you learned during your formative years.
The Influence of Your Environment
As children, we absorb information like sponges. We watch and learn from the adults around us, especially our caregivers. If your parents were careful savers who planned and budgeted meticulously, you might have developed a cautious approach to money. On the other hand, if money was often a source of stress or conflict in your household, you might associate finances with anxiety and tension. Our subconscious mind takes these observations and forms beliefs about money that can last a lifetime. These beliefs can be both empowering and limiting, depending on the messages we receive.
If you saw your parents struggle with money, you most likely have anxiety surrounding even hearing the word. As kids, we take on our environment a lot, especially if you're an empath. You could probably feel your parents' stress as if it were your own and this goes into adulthood if left unhealed. This could show up as hyper-independence and never letting yourself experience the same struggle as your parents or holding onto money for dear life.
Scarcity Mindset vs. Abundance Mindset
Ask yourself: Do you have a scarcity mindset or an abundance mindset?
Scarcity Mindset: This is the belief that resources are limited. People with a scarcity mindset often feel anxious about money, fearing there will never be enough. They may hoard money, avoid spending, or feel guilty when they do spend.
Abundance Mindset: This is the belief that there are plenty of resources to go around. People with an abundance mindset are more likely to take calculated financial risks, invest in their future, and believe in their ability to create wealth.
How these mindsets are formed is largely determined by early life experiences and the financial attitudes modeled by caregivers. Additionally, personal experiences and cultural influences play a significant role in reinforcing either an optimistic or a fearful approach to money and resources.
Recognizing which mindset you have is the first step towards rewriting your money story.
Everything is Energy, So your Internal World Truly DOES Matter
Did you know that everything in life is energy? And yes, that includes money too. It’s common for most people to believe that money is a limited source when in reality there's enough abundance of money for everyone ( 8 billion people) to not struggle with their needs being met.
Shifting your perspective that money is not physical, but rather an emotional flow of vibrations helps you understand its true meaning. Your Internal world significantly influences how you attract money. Self-perception, beliefs, and attitudes toward money create energetic vibrations that either attract or repel financial abundance. By improving your internal world and cultivating self-worth, abundance mindset, and gratitude—you can align yourself with the energetic frequency of wealth. And by doing this you need to uncover what those limiting beliefs are and rewrite them.
You need to trust in the universe and the continuous flow of prosperity. This not only helps you to manifest but also sustain financial abundance throughout your journey.
Learning to improve your internal world will result in you feeling more deserving, and abundant, and in return attract and believe more money is coming to you always.
Uncovering and Rewriting Your Money Story
Now, you know what a money story is and how it's formed. It's time to uncover your money story and rewrite it.
Uncover:
Reflect on Childhood Experiences: Think about how money was handled in your family. Were there frequent discussions about financial stress or was money rarely talked about? Identify any specific incidents related to money that left a lasting impression on you.
Examine Your Current Beliefs: Write down your beliefs about money. Do you believe money is hard to come by, or do you think there's always enough? Consider how these beliefs influence your financial decisions today.
Identify Patterns in Your Financial Behavior: Look at your spending, saving, and investing habits. Are there any recurring patterns that stem from your past experiences? Notice any emotions that arise when dealing with money, such as anxiety, guilt, or confidence.
Rewrite:
Challenge Limiting Beliefs: Once you’ve identified your limiting beliefs, question their validity. Are these beliefs based on facts or assumptions? Replace negative beliefs with positive affirmations. For example, change "I’ll never be good with money" to "I am learning to manage my money wisely."
Educate Yourself: Increase your financial literacy by reading books, taking courses, or attending workshops on personal finance. The more knowledgeable you are, the more empowered you’ll feel to make financial decisions that align with what you want your money to be like. If you want to be a millionaire, look at how millionaires handle and view money.
Create a Positive Money Routine: Develop healthy financial habits, such as budgeting, regular saving, and mindful spending. Practice gratitude by regularly reflecting on and appreciating the financial progress you’ve made.
Set Clear Financial Goals: Define specific, achievable financial goals. Whether it’s saving for a down payment on a house or paying off debt, having clear goals gives you direction. Break down these goals into manageable steps and track your progress. Ask yourself, “How many zeros do I want in my bank account to feel happy and secure?”
Seek Support: Consider working with a financial coach or therapist who can help you navigate your money story and provide guidance. Join a community or support group where you can share experiences and learn from others on a similar journey.
Your past does not define your future. By beginning your healing and self-improvement journey, you have the power to rewrite your money story. By understanding and transforming your beliefs about money, you can create a financial future that aligns with your values and aspirations. Take control, educate yourself, and embrace an abundance mindset. Because there's more than enough money for everyone to have what they need. Money is everywhere. It's not fixed, but rather a flow. And you can attract an abundance of it towards you. But, first, you need to believe that you are deserving.
Internal is here to tell you that you're more than enough to live the life of your dreams, have your desires, and be happy. We can preach this every day to you, but to see noticeable growth YOU have to believe it.
Your financial well-being is within your reach. Your money story doesn’t have to remain fixed.
